“It is Spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.” Rainer Maria Rilke
Month: March 2014

Poetry Out Loud
This year’s National Finals for Poetry Out Loud, the nation-wide poetry recitation contest for high school students, will be April 28-30 in Washington DC.
The videos of past performances are amazing. Good luck to all the reciters this year!
The Shape of a Tree
“Never say there is nothing beautiful in the world anymore. There is always something to make you wonder in the shape of a tree, the trembling of a leaf.” Albert Schweitzer
Book Spine Jump Rope Rhyme
I first posted this Book Spine Jump Rope Rhyme in a former blog. Book Spine poetry is fun. It can be difficult to use rhyme in a Book Spine poem, but because I created a jump rope rhyme, this one practically wrote itself (jump rope rhymes don’t have to make sense, so they’re a lot easier). Many thanks to Bill Martin, Dr. Seuss, Nancy Shaw, Jan Brett, Barbara Jean Hicks and Ame Dyckman.
